TBR Intervention is a weekly challenge hosted by April @ Books4Juliet, Dani @ Refracted Light and Ayanami @ Whatever You Can Still Betray
The goal of this challenge is to help each other (fellow readers and bloggers) manage our enormous and constantly growing TBR (To-Be-Read) List. The rules are simple and everyone is encouraged to participate. It does not force you to commit to more than what you can manage to read in a week or so, but participants are encouraged to read at least one book within a week. You are free to choose the book you want to read and commit to this challenge. You may post your entry every Saturday, at the frequency of your choice--EVERY WEEK or EVERY TWO WEEKS. However, we will sponsor this event regularly every Saturday.
This is my fifth week of TBR Intervention. It actually went really well. A lot better than last week.
Go to Refracted Light to see the rules of the TBR Intervention and to find the other participants for this week.
Last week's intervention
Last week my goal was to finish The Golden Compass, which was my challenge from two week's ago. And I did wahooooo! My second goal was, if I finished The Golden Compass, to read Speak. Which I did. Wahoo! So I got two books off my TBR list at once. Golden Compass was an ok book. It just was meh. I can't say that I liked Speak, but I'm glad it exists. Its a great book giving voice to certain topics that should be discussed and aren't.
This week's intervention
I've had The Alchemist on my to read since October 2008. I'm pretty sure that my husband has a copy around here somewhere. So hopefully I can find it and get reading. :)

Hi Lindsey!
ReplyDeleteYay for the two books off the shelf this week! Good luck with your next book! I heard good things about the The Alchemist so I'm hoping (really hoping) that you'll end up loving it... I'm glad that you finished the two books you've chosen last week, though it's kinda sad too that you didn't liked them much.
Have a great week ahead =)
P.S. You have a beautiful name <3 XOXO!
YAY! Congrats on finishing The Golden Compass and Speak. Did TGC suck you in a little bit more the further you read or is it about the same as the beginning? So I'm guessing Speak is not a reread? I totally understand. There are sometimes books or movies I read and see, and though I didn't necessarily enjoy them, the story sticks with me and I'm SO glad I had the experience.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with The Alchemist. I've been curious about that book for years, but never have picked it up.
The end of The Golden Compass was the same as the beginning. I found myself just skimming paragraphs some of the time. Speak is something I might re-read when I have a teenager but other than that probably not. It was good though.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of not starting the Alchemist until I finish a bunch of books I have to read for reviews. We'll see!
