Fun Meme Friday

1. Would you grow your hair out to cut it?
Last year, I grew my hair out forever. When I finally went in to get it cut, I was really hoping that it was long enough to donate. It was an inch too short :( I was sad. My sister-in-law's boyfriend is currently growing his hair out to donate it. He found a place that will take 8 inches instead of 10, so I think he's cutting it this weekend. I'm growing my hair out right now so I can perm it for my birthday.

2. What song makes you think of summer?
Will Smith's "Getting Jiggy with It" and obviously, his "Summertime". Also, New Kids on the Block's Summertime. Country music makes me think of summer too - open air, hanging out at the beach, relaxing music.

3. Are you a flip flops or sandals kind of person.
If I could find some sandals that didn't make me look like I'm either on safari or a hippie, I would love them. Until then I'll wear uncomfortable flip flops.

4. Favorite summer treat?
Good old fashioned ice cream. There's nothing like it at the end of a hot summer day.
I wish I could share that with CJ, but until he gets over his milk allergy, none for him.

5. Do you do something special for the father of your children?
I'll let Bubba sleep in and make him breakfast. That's really all we have planned.

Who is your favorite father from a book series?

Mr. Weasley from Harry Potter! That's probably going to be a really common answer. Also, Mr. O'Hara and Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind. I always loved how dedicated a father Rhett was, even though in that time period, fathers weren't very hands-on. He didn't care that he had a girl and not a boy. "What use are boys anyway?" I loved the dad from The Lovely Bones too. But I can't think about that movie or it makes me cry.

Weekly Reading Recap
I'm currently reading Darkening Dream, a great YA paranormal book. It took a bit to get into it, but now that the story is picking up, I love it. CJ has been reading a ton of picture books, including The Giving Tree and My Father The Dog. I'm also reading The Bloggess' memoir which is ridiculously funny. What are you reading this week?

Fun Meme Friday

1. What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Egypt is the most beautiful place I've ever been, so I'll go with there. I would love to go back to Sidi Abd El Raman, which I think might be the most beautiful place on the planet.

2. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Really bad television and pedicures.

3. What is your favorite fashion trend right now or in the past?
Uhmmm... flared leg jeans. Those are the only kind I wear. I would look ridiculous in both baggy pants and skinny jeans.

4. What are your spring break plans?
When is spring break? I have no plans.

5. What baby names do you hate?
I hate when names are misspelled, especially when it is done on purpose. I hate names like Mercedes or Precious. I have a cousin named Precious and I just think it is ridiculous. Precious is a word not a name.

What book would you like to see made into a movie/tv show and which actors/actresses do you have in mind?
There's this series called Harry Potter, you might have heard of it, and I think that this guy named Alan Rickman would be perfect for Severus Snape. Oh wait....
Hmmmm I would say Game of Thrones, but again, already done.
How about A Great and Terrible Beauty and the rest of the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray? That would be sweet. I think I may have discussed this before. I would want the guy from Slumdog Millionaire to play Kartik. Hmmm, who could play Gemma? That's a tough one.... I might have to think about it and get back to you. But I would love to see Gemma Doyle on the big screen.

Fun Meme Friday!

Go count the number of books on your shelves. How many are there?

Uhmmm.... Do I have to tell you? I have over 122 print books on my shelves. I probably have more than 200 on my nookshelves. Hopefully when I get to heaven, all these books will be waiting for me to read. If we really do get to choose our heaven, mine will be a library filled with books.

What are some of your reading goals for the new year?

I am taking part of a bunch of challenges, so I'd like to finish those. I'd like to read at least a book a week. I'd like to finish all the books I have for review, and I'd like to read a lot of the books I have on my shelves.

What is the weather like where you are and do you like it?
I live in Massachusetts, and it is really cold right now. I don't like the cold, but this has been a really mild winter, so I'm not too bothered by it yet. If it stays this cold until April (which it probably will) I will change my mind about it.

When you are sick, what do you seek comfort from?
Bed. When I'm sick, all I want to do is sleep and shower. Showers sometimes make me feel better. I just lay down like I'm taking a bath and let the water wash over me.

What do you need to do before the end of the month?
Go to Sara-Marie and Mark's wedding! Wahooooooo! Other than that, nothing.

Have you ever served on a jury?
Funny you should ask. I never have, but I received a summons to jury duty for the first time this week. It's horse patootie. The hubby had to do it just last month. Gah! I don't wanna. Civic responsibility my butt.

If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?
Although I freaking hate birds with the utmost passion, I would want to be one. Just so that I could fly. Also poop all over everyone and everything and get away with it. True story.

Fun Meme Friday!

(Click on image to be taken to host.)

1. Do you like your middle name or are you embaressed by it?
I was always embarrassed by my middle name because I was named after my aunt who is quite literally, a crazy person. When I got married, I change my maiden name to my middle name, and now I love it.

2. Have you ever seen a white Christmas?
I think a better question is have I ever not seen a white Christmas? I grew up in New England and Colorado so there's almost always been snow on Christmas. I'm not sure whether it is going to happen this year though.

3. Looking back, have you accomplished what you wanted in life up to this point?
I haven't really accomplished much of anything that I intended, but I'm ok with that. What I wanted to be and who I became are two completely different people. I'd much rather be a wife and mother than a pilot. Not that I couldn't do both if I wanted to, but I don't.

4. Do you prefer baking or cooking?
Definitely baking. Baking leads to yumminess.

5. Which website do you spend the most time on?
Besides this blog, facebook and google reader.

Go here for the host.

What blog post has gotten the most comments/activity this year?
Other than blog hops and giveaways, the most comments have been on my A-Z Book Challenge. Lots of people joined that, so yay!

Go here to sign up.

What is the best Christmas present you've ever received?
Two years ago, I got married 2 days after Christmas. That was the best Christmas present I have ever received.

Worst/funniest white elephant present you've ever received?
In elementary school, we did one of these. It was such a bad idea. I grew up in a really poor town, so I don't understand why they thought any of us could afford to buy a present to give to some random kid in our class. Well my mom took this ginormous oversized foot-shaped comb and wrapped that. The person who got it was sooooo mad. I wouldn't admit that it was me who gave it.

Is your Christmas tree plain and simple or wild and crazy?
All of the above? I will only allow white lights in my house. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. We don't have a big Christmas tree this year, we have 3 small trees. We have one all-white tree covered in mostly white ornaments. That's the wedding tree. Then there's a regular tree covered in regular ornaments and finally there is the all-black Nightmare before Christmas tree. We like to mix it up around here.

How do you iron your clothes?
On the very rare occasions when I iron my clothing, I do it with an iron on an ironing board.

How much baking do you do for Christmas and what are your "must bake" items?
I usually bake one or two things. This year I'm going to make a pumpkin pie for my bro-in-law, some sort of fancy cupcake (last year I made Irish car-bomb cupcakes), and I need to make something sugar-free and dairy-free for the baby. Not sure what yet.

Go here to sign up.

When you've read a book, what do you do with it?

This all depends on the book. If I loved loved loved it, I keep it. It goes on a special shelf I have just for books that I absolutely love. If I love it, and it is something that I want my children to read someday, it goes onto another special shelf I have just for that. Otherwise, I give it away. I'll either paperbackswap it or give it away on here or bring it to the used book store. I have over 1000 books on my bookshelves, so I just can't keep books that I don't absolutely love anymore. Sometimes it makes me sad to give them away, but until I have the Beast's library from Beauty & the Beast, I just can't hoard them like I want.

Fun Meme Friday!

What is your favorite Christmas cookie?
I'm not sure what they are called, but my friend Joni makes them. They're amaaaazing. When she made them for my company when I was in the Army, everyone wanted the recipe. She's gonna send me some for Christmas, so yippee. I can't even describe what they're like besides FREAKING DELICIOUS

What is your favorite holiday movie and why?
The Grinch. I mean hello. It's the Grinch.

Is there a gift you bought for your children that you wish you hadn't after they opened it?
Not yet.

What is the messiest room in the house at this moment?
My bedroom. It is just the catch-all for everything. Especially since I don't have a craft room, there are just craft supplies in every nook and cranny. The dresser is piled high with stuff too. There's a pile of clean laundry by my husband's dresser and a basket of clean laundry by mine.

What is the furthest you have driven for the holidays?
My grandmother once flew herself, her husband, and me to Denver, then we had to drive from there to Fort Collins. While that isn't normally a long drive, it is when your grandmother is insane and her husband is driving on the wrong side of the ride in Denver.

Pet peeves?
Ignorant people. Rude people. Bad grammar.

Typical day from wake up to bed.
8-830 : wake up with the baby
830-930 : Nurse baby in bed so I can sleep a little more
930-10 : Breakfast
10-12 : Play/read/sing/dance/amuse baby. Clean randomly.
12 : Lunch
1 : If hubby is gone, this is nap time, otherwise it's more keep baby amused time.
2 : Naptime if it isn't already.
3 -4 : Wake up from nap, have a snack
4 - 5 : Play/read/sing/dance/amuse baby. Clean randomly.
430 - 530 : Make dinner, feed baby.
530 : If dada is at work, call and say hi.
6 : Tubby time for baby.
6 - 7 : Read books until bedtime.
7 : Nurse baby, put him to bed.
730 : Take out dog, feed dog.
8 - 11 : Clean, do random stuff, blog.
1130 - bedtime : Hang out with the hubby when he gets home from work, read, then bed.

I live a very exciting life people.

Pizza or pasta?
I love them both!!! I'll go with pizza.

Finish the sentence - One book I was I had written is...
Gone with the Wind or Lord of the Rings or The Great Gatsby.

Favorite sport?
I don't play any sports, but if the Sox are playing, I enjoy watching baseball.

What book do you think that everyone should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your friends?
I would probably go with Peter Pan and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Join up at GReads!

Book to Movie: Which book turn movie do you feel did the best adaptation? What about the worst?

Excellent question.

Best : Lord of the Rings trilogy. Yea they added some bullsh*t about Arwen, but other than that, it was amazing seeing Middle Earth come to life. I loved Viggo as Aragorn.

Worst : Beowulf. The CGI version. Beowulf is one of the most beautiful works ever written. The crap CGI and ridiculous voice overs in the CGI version (with Angelina Jolie) just made me really freaking mad.

Fun Meme Friday!

Go here to sign up.

What is your favorite Christmas decoration in your house?
My husband and I got married 2 days after Christmas, so we asked that our guests bring us Christmas ornaments as gifts. I got a white tree from Oh My Crafts and I put all of the ornaments we got on there. It's all white and prettiful.

Do you finish your Christmas shopping early or are you the last minute type?
I generally finish the big stuff early and buy a few little things towards the end.

When do you turn on your heat?
In our current apartment, I don't. We live in this little hidey corner of the building, so there are people on pretty much all sides of us plus two floors below us. The heat that those people use just kind of encircles and cocoons us. It's awesome. When I get up in the morning, I generally throw a load of laundry in the dryer and that makes it pretty warm.

Do you ever wish your blog was private?
If it was, it'd be more of a journal than a blog, no? I have a journal-type thing already so that just would seem like a lot more work for no reason.

Do you put deodorant before or after you put on a shirt?
Generally before, but sometimes, I forget and have to go back and do it.

Go here to sign up and see the other participants.

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
The only person allowed to write a book about my life is me. Also, my husband and I have discussed this and the title we came up with is "Dropped the Ball". As in, these are all the people who "dropped the ball" in raising me.
If you could have a signed copy of any novel, what would it be and why?
It'd be great if I had some signed Shakespeare that I could sell for a few million. I would love a signed edition of The Great Gatsby though. I just love that book. I don't even know if there are any signed versions of it though.
Horror or romance?
I generally like suspense more than horror, but I'd probably choose horror over romance.
If you could choose only one time period and place to live, where would it be and why?
Ancient Rome. So much was happening then, it just seemed like it would've been an amazing time period. It is a toss up though between Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt. It would be amazing to see the pyramids when they were shiny and brilliant to look at and the Sphinx wasn't staring at a KFC. (No really, she is.)
Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts or one big expensive one?
Smaller ones would probably be more personal so I'd prefer those.

Go here to sign up.

What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books?
This is sort of a more recent thing due to self-publishing. Bad grammar/spelling in books. I've read a couple of self-published books which look like they weren't edited at all. I mean, the least you can do is have your mom give it a good once over. Not all self-published books are like this, but some are. That drives me nuts. I cannot take your book seriously if you can't use proper grammar or spelling.

Fun Meme Friday!

1. What's the last thing you spent too much money on?
My husband's stupid car. I told him we needed a new one, but he said that this time, the cost to fix it won't be that high. $1200 later.... I hate that car.

2. What celeb chef would you want to make you dinner?
Tony Bourdain. My husband is obsessed and Tony Bourdain is probably the only chef that Craig wouldn't dare criticize. Plus he's entertaining.

3. Where do you hide things when visitors pop over or do you let them see the real deal?
I hide stuff, especially if it is one of my brothers-in-law coming over who is a giant neat freak. When he comes in the door, I can almost feel him start to hyperventilate.

4. Who is your oldest living family member?
My great-nana is almost 90. I lost my other great-grandmother in April, she was in her early 90s.

5. What is your favorite DQ treat and/or Sonic drink combo (ie: cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper)?
Cherry Limeade. Yum. I'm not allowed to have it in the car after the Cherry Limeade incident of 09.

Check out the other participants here.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want with you?
Pastene pepperoncinis, chocolate milk (purely for the calcium of course), and my baby (provided that the island is safe).

What is one book everyone should read?
Harry Potter, obviously.

If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
The ability to fly. Again, obviously.

Harry Potter or Twilight?
How is this even a question?!?!? Harry Potter!

Gum or breath mints?
Gum please. Thank you.

Question : In light of 11/11/11 and Veteran's Day, tell us about your favorite soldier and how he or she is saving the world. Fictional or real life.

Am I allowed to say myself? Just kidding, although I do think I am a pretty awesome veteran. I attended a military academy, and served in the Army, so pretty much everyone I know is or has been in the military. It's hard to pick just one who is especially awesome. But I'll mention a few.

First up is my best friend, US Army CPT Silvia Jemutai. She deployed last year to Afghanistan and is now stationed in Kentucky. She actually became an American citizen just so that she could commission in the Army. Her hobbies include pinching me and breaking her leg while dancing. See picture. You rock CPT Jemutai!
To everyone I was lucky enough to serve with. From those of you at Basic Training in Fort Jackson, to AIT in Fort Sam Houston, to 121 Combat Support Hospital in Yongsan South Korea, and finally Charlie Company, 201st Brigade Support Battalian, 1st Infantry Division. The last group, Charlie 201st, are currently saving lives somewhere in Afghanistan. I love and miss you guys (most of you anyway). Come home safe!

To all my relatives who have served. My Uncle Jamie, Aunt Theresa, Great Grampy Giddinge, Grampy Noble, Grampy Giddinge, Uncle Al. Love you all and I appreciate all your sacrifices. When I was in basic, I always said that they didn't make soldiers like they used to. I still think this is true, and I want to thank all of those veterans who served even when they didn't have a choice, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
On a lighter, less depressing note. Let me give a shout out to my favorite fictional military man. Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett. Yum. Yum. Yum.

Fun Meme Friday!

Go here for all participants.

What movie do you love to quote?
All of them. Probably Boondock Saints the most.

Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?
When I was little and my step-dad liked me (for like a day) he used to take me on his motorcycle.

What's your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
Stomp in puddles. I see puddles and I turn into a little kid again. Otherwise, I'd just like to sleep all day.

Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts or one big (expensive) gift?
I don't really like gifts, but probably a big expensive gift kind of girl.

Do you ever lose track of days and show up somewhere wrong?
If I have somewhere to be, I generally get there early. Since I'm a stay at home mom and don't have many commitments, I generally have no idea what day it is.

 Go here for more participants.
What's your favorite season/weather?
I love Fall. I love the leaves under you toes, the crispness in the air, the smell of pumpkin. Unfortunately, here in New England, it's like we get a week of fall and jump right into winter. Yuck.

PC or Mac
PC. It's all I've ever used and it's all I'm ever going to use.

Favorite Music?
I listen to a little bit of everything. I love rock, rap, and oldies. I listen to a lot of Disney and Sesame Street songs nowadays though...

Facebook or Twitter?
Definitely facebook. There's more to see and do. When I go to twitter I just get overwhelmed.

What tv show/book/movie do you watch/read and are ashamed to admit?
I'm not really ashamed of it, but if a show is set in New Jersey, I watch it. My favorites are Jerseylicious and The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but I'll watch Jersey Shore if it is on.

Go here for all the participants.

Q: Today's question is something new, an activity. Take a pic with you and your current read. Too shy, just post a fun pic you want to share.

I'm not too shy, but my camera has been MIA for the last few days. So I'll post a pic of random picture.
Just saying.

Fun Meme Friday!

Go here to see the other participants.

1. Do you prefer cotton, silk, or flannel sheets?
Cotton. I love the feel of nice clean, crisp, cotton sheets.
2. What time zone are you in?
Eastern. If I'm not, my brain refuses to cooperate. Made life in Egypt and Korea kind of tough.
3. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
Thanksgiving! I love the family, home-y, sort of feeling you get. I can't wait to hold it in my own household.
4. What is your favorite "wintry" drink? (It doesn't have to be an "alcoholic" drink!)
It used to be chocolate milk with peppermint schnapps, but I haven't drank since before I got pregnant. I love egg nog too, but only a little bit. It's so thick. I also love warm apple cidar. Yum.
5. In your opinion, what is the worst job in the world?
President of the US. No matter what, you get blamed for everything. Even things that are completely out of your hands. You're one person fighting against a group of people (Congress and the Senate) just trying to do what's right. I felt this way with Clinton, I felt this way with Bush, and I feel this way with Obama. It is a thankless job.
Go here for all participants.

1. If you could meet one person who has died, who would you choose?
Anne Boleyn. I just want to go back in time and give her a hug and tell her it's going to be ok. Let her know that her daughter becomes one of the greatest queens that ever lives.
2. Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate definitely.
3. What do you do in your free time?
This blog. And read.
4. What movie are you looking forward to this year?
Hunger Games. I looooved the books so I am really hoping that they do a good job. I was a little apprehensive about their actor choices, but now that I've seen the teaser posters, I feel a little better about it.
5. Spontaneity or planning ahead?
With a baby, there's not really much room for spontaneity. Anything we do requires a fully stocked diaper bag with epi-pen, benadryl, and dairy free snacks.

Go here for the other participants.

Q:  If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

This is a really tough one. There's the Harry Potter universe of course. There's Lizzie Bennett, Captain Hook, Gemma Doyle... Then there's Sherlock Holmes. I honestly don't know. There's just so many that I love. I would definitely serve chicken parmesan though. It's my favorite.

Fun Meme Friday!

For the full list of participants, go here.
1. Where do you escape when you've had enough?
My bed, and to sleep. Sleeping makes everything better. It's true.

2. What shows are you watching this Fall?
Too many! I'm really loving Pan Am, Revenge and Ringer. Those are the new shows I'm watching. Plus I'm still watching Supernatural, The Big Bang Theory, etc. Plus the Walking Dead just started up again so I have to watch that too. Too many great shows!!!

3. What was the longest road trip you've ever taken and where did you go?
I've driven from Massachusetts to Colorado three times. The first time when I was 14. My mom and I were moving there. There were like 7 of us in the truck and it was frickan' miserable. The second time it was just my mom and my grandmother and I wanted to shoot myself in the head. My grandmother and I aren't exactly pals. She wanted to listen to Patsy Cline and some other crap for the entire 2 day journey. One time she fell asleep and my mom put on Eminem for maybe two seconds before my grandmother was like "WHAT IS THIS CRAP?!" I'm not afraid to say that I told her to shut the hell up and go back to sleep. The third (and final!) time was when Craig (the hubby) and I drove there to pick up the dog before we moved to Fort Knox, Kenyucky (that's not a typo).  I was pregnant and fat and yet it wasn't as bad a trip as when I was with my evil grandmother.

4. Do you plan on taking your kids to Disney World?
Heck yes!! I went when I was in the fifth grade. It's one of my few happy childhood memories. Although I did have to be rushed to the ER. But whatevs. The baby is only 1 so it'll be a while, but I can't wait.

5. What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
I grew up in the hood. I'm from Lynn MA which is known for the rhyme "Lynn Lynn, the city of sin, you never come out the way you went in." It's not a great place to grow up but hey, it's home. My son will never live there though. My husband even hates visiting my family, although they live (mostly) in the "nice" part of town.

For the full list of participants, go here.
1. If you could travel in a time machine, would you go to the past or the future?
Well obviously, if I'm in a time machine, my life's dream of meeting the Doctor have come true. Hopefully it's number 9-11, preferably 10 (I lovez you David Tennant.). If this is true and I am finally flying around in the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space for those who don't know), then I can go back to the beginning of time (maybe meet the master as an old man :-D) and then forward to the end of the world. It's my blog and I can do what I want.

2. What was your favorite children's book?
I had this awesome hardcover book with gorgeous illustrations that had both The Secret Garden and A Little Princess in it. If I could find that again, my life would be complete. It was amazing. I got lost in it time and time again.

3. If you were a superhero, what would your kryptonite be?
I always joke that old men are my kryptonite. I cannot see a sad old man walking down the street by himself without getting teary eyed. They're just the saddest things ever. I used to drive by this nursing home in Colorado, and the same old man would always be sitting at the window staring out at the road. To this day i can't think about it without balling. I don't know how this would be used against me, but it is my weakness. Otherwise I'd say my son. Anyone messes with my son and it's going to be on like Donkey Kong.

4. Hot or cold?
When I'm really hot, I say I'd rather be cold. When I'm really cold, I say I'd rather be hot. So I'm just a big whiner.

What superhero is your alter ego?

I honestly don't have an answer to this one. I like mostly male superheros. Is there a female Thor? I could be her. Or Loki, he's pretty awesome. Here's my answer, I am Lindsey Winchester, the long lost Winchester sibling (from Supernatural). John got around so it is possible. :)

Fun Meme Friday!

Go here for the list of participants.

Do you prefer your ice cream in a bowl or a cone?
I'd say cones, but I have cones and for some reason whenever I get ice cream I don't put it in the cone.
What three things do you love the smell of?
Crisp fall air, lilacs, and the hubby.
Gift cards or no?
I don't generally give them unless I really just can't come up with a good present. Even then, I will just go with cash before I'll go with a gift card.
What sports did you play in high school and do you still play them?
Does cheerleading count as a sport? I am no longer a cheerleader, so nope.
Were you in band in high school? If so, what instrument did you play?
We didn't have a high school band. There was an all-city band but I wasn't part of it. I was on the Drill Team, but the ROTC Drill Team, not the flag flipping drill team. The hubby was a big old band dork. He was in Band Company at our military college too. He plays every instrument but I think he played the tuba then.

Go here for all participants.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A pilot and eventually an astronaut. So it turns out I'm mildly claustrophobic. The idea of going to the moon now horrifies me. Maybe CJ will be an astronaut. :)
Black or White?
Black, it's slimming.
Favorite food?
That's easy, Chicken Parmesan. Yum!
You have won one million dollars, what's the first thing you do or buy?
As lame as it is, I'd pay off Craig and I's student loans and other debts then buy a new car and a house. I'd probably invest some of it so I can make more money. Woot woot!
Print or e-book?
I have a Nook and I love that I can get a book instantly, but I still love the printed books. There's nothing like that book smell.

Go here to join and see all participants.

If you could have characters from a book meet and form an epic storyline with characters from a TV series, which characters would you choose and why?

This is an interesting question, so I had to give it some thought. I knew that I would want to bring Sam and Dean Winchester from Supernatural into it, but which book series should they be brought into?
Well, if they were brought into Twilight, they would kill Edward no questions asked. Dean would also kill their Renesme and hide it from Sam. Cuz that's how they roll. I think though that it would be cooler if Sam and Dean came up against Dracula. I wonder whether Dracula would have heard of them like they played it on Buffy. I think Dracula would die. He's pretty bad-ass but this is the Winchesters we are talking about here.

Fun Meme Friday!

Go here for all the participants.

1. What is your go to comfort food or sweet?
I love chicken parmesan. It's cheesy and saucy and yummy. Loves it. Anytime we go out to eat, the hubby says "Just order the chicken parmesan, you know you want to." And I do, because it's delicious.

2. What is the most romantic place you've ever been to?
When I was lucky enough to study abroad in Egypt, my aunt and uncle brought me to this hotel in Sidi Abd El Ramen. One whole wall of my room was this giant door that opened directly onto the water. I literally could not sleep. I spent the entire three days sitting by the water. At night, I slept out on the sand. I kept thinking to myself "This is the most romantic place I have ever been." Too bad I was all alone. :( Someday hopefully I can bring the hubby there.

3. What is your favorite thing about fall/Halloween?
My favorite thing about Fall is the changing of the leaves. Here in New England, it's absolutely gorgeous. It's the only reason I can tolerate living somewhere it gets so cold. I feel like the leaves being so beautiful is God's way of apologizing for what is about to come. Winter is coming. My favorite thing about Halloween is decorating! I'm currently putting together all my Halloween decorations. I've got a mantel currently, so I'm using that to my advantage. I'll post pics once I'm done!

4. How would you spend 24 hours alone?
Sleep. I would sleep for 24 hours. I've done it before and I'd do it again.

5. Does you husband bring you flowers? Are you the bring-me-flowers type of girl?
I'm sure he would if he knew I'd enjoy them. I love flowers, but flowers die, and they're crazy expensive. I'd rather be taken out to a nice meal, or brought to the movies. I'd rather do something than receive something I guess. Once a year or so is ok though.

If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show to swap places with, who would it be?
Book : Wendy from Peter Pan. The only difference being, that when a certain debonair pirate asked me, "Didst thou ever dream of being a pirate?", my answer would be "Aye." I would then become the scurge of Never Land. I may have dreamt this a time or two.
Movie : Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden. The 1993-ish version. Getting to live in that gorgeous house with Dickon and Colin. Growing that gorgeous garden. Loooove that movie. Great book too.
Television show : Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl. She gets amazing clothes, every single guy on the show has at one time been madly in love with her, she's about to marry a prince. The girl's life is amazing.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Coffee. Up until this past week, when my doctor suggested I drink a cup of coffee a day to try to fight migraines, I never ever drank coffee. But I've always loved coffee ice cream. No idea why. I also love chocolate chip cookie dough. Yum!
What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
I love when my hubby makes eggs. His are just really delicious. I don't generally have an appetite for breakfast, so I just eat a bowl of cereal or a bagel with cream cheese.
Night owl, or early bird?
I am totally a night owl. It stinks now because CJ goes to bed at 8pm and is up at 7-8am. There is absolutely no way I can get to bad at 8pm, especially since the hubby works until 11pm. Usually I stay up with him until 1-2am. It's so bad for me, but I seriously cannot sleep that early or without the hubby there.
One food you would never eat?
I'll generally try anything once. I can't really think of anything I wouldn't try.
Skittles or M&Ms?
Skittles are my absolute favorite. I've got a jar of them right now actually. :)

Follow My Book Blog Friday!

This is another awesome book blog hop that I'm really excited to participate in. It's a great way to find tons of new bookie blogs and tons of new people. Just click on the picture above if you'd like to participate. There's also an awesome thought-provoking book-related question to answer.

This week's question:

Q. It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

A. I think this is going to be a really popular answer, but I'm going to go with Harry Potter. Who doesn't want that awesomeness to be real? Wizards and dragons and giants and trolls and centaurs. I would totally have a pet centaur. Hopefully I wouldn't be a Muggle so I could go to Hogwarts. Although I think if I was allowed, I'd rather go to Durmstrang. Viktor Krum = yum. If I did go to Hogwarts, I'd probably be in Slytherin or Ravenclaw. I'm not sure I'm quite evil enough for Slytherin, but I can hope.

A. I'm changing my answer!!! I can't believe I didn't go with this first, but OBVIOUSLY, my answer is either Middle Earth (from Tolkien) or The Seven Kingdoms (from Game of Thrones). I want to be an elf in Middle Earth or a hobbit. I'm not sure, but that's where I want to live. I also would like to go to the Seven Kingdoms and whoop on all the stupid Lannisters and take all the Starks and bring them together and be like NONE OF YOU ARE DEAD!! STOP BEING STUPID!! I would still like for Harry Potter to be real as well though.
