Let's Pretend This Never Happened Review and Giveaway

If you aren't reading The Bloggess, then you are missing out. I actually hadn't heard of her until late last year. My aunt is a huge fan and kept sharing some of hilariousness on facebook, so I had to check her out. I was immediately addicted to her crazy life. When she wrote a book, called Let's Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir) , I pre-ordered it as soon as I could.

Here's the synopsis straight from Jenny's blog : When Jenny Lawson was little, all she ever wanted was to fit in. That dream was cut short by her fantastically unbalanced father (a professional taxidermist who created dead-animal hand puppets) and a childhood of wearing winter shoes made out of used bread sacks. It did, however, open up an opportunity for Lawson to find the humor in the strange shame spiral that is her life, and we are all the better for it.
Lawson’s long-suffering husband and sweet daughter are the perfect comedic foils to her absurdities, and help her to uncover the surprising discovery that the most terribly human moments-the ones we want to pretend never happened-are the very same moments that make us the people we are today.
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir is a poignantly disturbing, yet darkly hysterical tome for every intellectual misfit who thought they were the only ones to think the things that Lawson dares to say out loud. Like laughing at a funeral, this book is both irreverent and impossible to hold back once you get started.
This book is a memoir of the funniest caliber. Jenny doesn't always mean to be funny, she just is. No one could grow up the way that she did and not be a little messed up in the head. Sometimes while reading, I would crack up and then have to re-read the passage out loud to the hubby. He feels so much pity for Jenny's long-suffering husband Victor. Just check out what Victor got for his 16th anniversary present this week. My husband was APPALLED but secretly I think he was a bit jealous. If you want a laugh out loud book, please read this. Just like Wil Wheaton says, "It's funnier than the bible." Just watch the video to hear what else he has to say about it. If this video doesn't make you want to read the book, I don't know what will.

After reading this book, I want to be Jenny Lawson. I want to collect taxidermied animals, terrorize my husband, live in a house where I'm haunted by scorpions. Her life is serendipitously hilarious. I may have made that word up, but it is the only way to describe it. I usually like to tell you if there's anything bad in the book, but there just isn't anything. The entire book is hilarious perfection. Even though I've been reading the Bloggess' blog for months, I somehow missed the fact that she had a daughter. In the one non-funny chapter, she shares the heartbreak she endured trying to have a child. It will break your heart. Then in the next chapter she will make you snort with laughter.

Because I pre-ordered her book, Jenny sent me a signed bookplate. Now that I've read and reviewed the book, I want to share it with one of my lucky readers. To enter, just fill out the rafflecopter below! If it isn't working, just leave a comment with your name and email and I will add you to the rafflecopter manually. Good luck! a Rafflecopter giveaway
