A to Z Mini-Challenge #2 - Love is in the air!

I apologize for the delay. Flu then this blizzard which meant we had to leave NH (we would have been stranded in the woods) and are now in MA. Anywho...

So here's February Mini-Challenge #2...

In honor of Valentine's Day next week, read a book that has love in it. It can be a romance or familial or friend love, just some sort of love. Use your judgment. <3

2013 A to Z Mini-Challenge #1

Janus
Did you know that the word January comes from the Roman god Janus? He was portrayed as having two faces, one looking to the past and one looking to the future.

In Janus' honor, for the mini-challenge this month, you have two options.

Option A) Read a book with two faces on the cover.
Option B) Read a book where a character is two-faced.

As usual, use your discretion in determining if the book fits the task. I trust your judgment!

Don't forget to sign the linky below if you do the mini-challenge. At the end of the year, you will be in the running to win a book from The Book Depository. I am still calculating to find a winner for last year, so that'll be posted soon.

A-Z Mini-Challenge #12 - End of Days

I am so sorry that this is 8 days late!

So as you may know, the world may be ending on December 21st, 2012. In honor of that silly little factoid, read a book that has an end in it. The end of anything. As usual, if you think it fits, it fits. :) At the end of the month, I'll post a linky for those of you who have finished the entire challenge. If you have, you are amazing, because I definitely haven't.

A-Z Mini-Challenge #11 - Thankfulness!

This year is absolutely flying by. Sheesh. It is now November. There are only about 50 days til Christmas. CHRISTMAS!? I know seriously.

If you remember from last year, I'm not a big fan of the propaganda surrounding Thanksgiving, but it is still my favorite holiday. I love the idea of taking one day a year and just being thankful for everything that you have been given. You also get to spend that day with your family eating delicious food, so that is a bonus.

To celebrate that happy thoughts that surround Thanksgiving, this month's A-Z challenge is again, pretty simply.

Read a book with something you are thankful for on the cover.

Are you thankful for your house? Read a book with a house on it. Are you thankful for your children? Read a book with a child on it. As usual, if you think it works for this challenge, it works. I'm not nit-picky about this. So go ahead, read a book!

A-Z Mini-Challenge #10 - Scare Tactics

Well it is October. I know right?! How did that happen? I bet you can probably guess what this month's mini-challenge is. In the honor of Halloween, my favorite holiday... read a scary book! As usual, you define what scary is, so this is open to interpretation.

Also, in case you forgot, every time you complete a challenge, you are entered into a drawing. At the end of the year everyone who completed a challenge will be entered to win their book of choice from The Book Depository.

A-Z Mini-Challenge #9 - Back to School

I cannot believe how fast this year is going. It is insane. I start school this week, wahoo! Soon it will be Fall. I love Fall. I love everything about it except that it leads to Winter. Winter is coming. Since this is back to school time for most people, that is going to lead to this month's challenge.

Read a book with a school in it!

As usual, your interpretation of this can be pretty broad. As long as a school is mentioned in the book, it can count. It doesn't have to be set there. It can be, but doesn't have to be. I'm going to re-read the Gemma Doyle trilogy, so if you are looking for some great books this month, start with A Great and Terrible Beauty. Let me know what you read! You'll have until October 3rd for this challenge.

A-Z Mini-Challenge #8 - Super-human

I didn't forget this month's challenge, I just couldn't come up with a topic. My brain was complete mush every time I tried to think of a topic for you guys. I was going to make it a freebie, then I realized two things happened this month that were pretty awesome.

1. The Olympics
2. Curiosity lands on Mars.

Sometimes when I am watching the Olympics, it seems like they are almost super-human. The way they bend or run. Just how powerful they are. It is amazing. And obviously landing on Mars is super-human since we can't yet do it ourselves. So that is this month's challenge...

Read a book with a super-human character!

As usual, your interpretation of this can be pretty broad. If you think the character is super-human in any way, you can use it. Let me know what you read! You'll have until September 15th for this challenge since I'm so late posting it.

A-Z Mini-Challenge #7 - Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

I am so sorry that I completely forgot this month's mini-challenge. Ugh!!

So how's everyone doing with the challenge? I am doing horribly. Would you believe I read one book last month?! One. Despicable. I was really hoping to turn it around this month, but it isn't looking good. Sheesh. I hope you guys are all doing better than I am. Has anyone finished the challenge yet? That would be amazing.

Well, July 15th is my little bambino's 2nd birthday. So in honor of that we are going to have a celebrations challenge.

For this month's challenge, read a book with a celebration in it!

It can be a birthday, a baptism, a bah mitzvah, whatever. Let me know if you find any good books!

A-Z Mini-Challenge #6 - Birthdays and Fathers' Days

How is everyone doing on the challenge? We are almost halfway through the year. It is summer, can you believe it? I can't. June is my absolute favorite month. It signals the start of fun and excitement and silliness. It is also my birthday month. Wahooooo! Happy birthday to me!

June is also the month with Father's Day in it. I was originally going to have you read a book with a celebration in it, like a birthday or something. Since I had a mother's day challenge last month, it is only fair to have a Father's day challenge this month.

So for this month's challenge, read a book with a father figure in it.
Remember that linking up below once you complete the month's challenge enters you into a book giveaway at the end of the year!

A-Z Mini Challenge #5 - Mother May I?

How is everyone doing on the challenge so far? I'm starting to realize that I need to start purposely choosing my books to fill in the blanks I have left. It seems like every book I have starts with S. I have so many books, I know I must have one for every letter of the alphabet. Let me know in the comments which letters you are having trouble with. :)

So since Mother's Day is May 13th, for this month's challenge, read a book with a mother in it. There's tons of books about families and familial relationships, so this should be easy. She doesn't have to be a main character, but should play some sort of role in the story.

So Lianne from The Towering Pile cleverly asked if "The Mummy" would count and my reply is... hellz yes. If there is a mummy in the book, you can use it. I want this challenge to be fun and easy. :)

A-Z Mini-Challenge #4 - April

Where is this year going?! I mean seriously. April?! Already. Sheesh.

This month's challenge is to read a book with over 1000 pages.

Just kidding! April Fool's!

In honor of April Fool's Day...

Read a book that makes you laugh.

Another easy one. It doesn't have to be classified as humor. If at any point during the book, you laugh, it counts. Good luck! Let me know what you read. Since I read a lot of historical fiction, there's a lot of rape and murder and mayhem, not a lot of laughing. I could use a break.

A-Z Mini-Challenge 3 - March

February went by crazy fast didn't it? So who's ready for mini-challenge #3?

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, read a book with the word green in it OR a green cover. Pretty simple huh? I like to keep them easy. Good luck and remember, everybody's Irish on St. Patrick's Day.

A-Z Mini-Challenge 2 - February #1

This month there will be two mini-challenges!

So here's February Mini-Challenge #1...

February is Black History Month. So in honor of that, read a book that related to African-Americans. It can have an African-American character, it can be written by one, etc. If you think it related to Black History Month, it probably does.

Good luck! I will set up the linky tonight.

A-Z Mini-Challenge #1

As part of my A-Z Book Challenge, there are going to be monthly book challenges. I will post them on the first of each month (at least I'll try to), and you will have the entire month to complete the challenge, write a blog post about it, and enter onto the linky. If you don't have a blog, just leave a comment on this page with the book you read that goes with the challenge.

For every mini-challenge you complete, you will get one entry into a drawing. At the end of the year, I will pick one name from all of those entries, and you will win the book of your choice from The Book Depository. Yay free books!

Here's mini-challenge number 1...

In honor of New Year's and all of the Resolutions people are making, read one book relating to your New Year's resolution. For example, if you are giving up chocolate for the year (cuz you are nuts), you could read a book with chocolate on the cover, where a character works in a bakery (where they have chocolate), or the title is also the name of a type of chocolate (The Three Musketeers). It can be pretty general. If you can somehow relate the book to your resolution, it counts.

So good luck, and thanks for taking part.
