TBR Intervention (4)

TBR Intervention is a weekly challenge hosted by  April @ Books4Juliet, Dani @ Refracted Light and Ayanami @ Whatever You Can Still Betray
The goal of this challenge is to help each other (fellow readers and bloggers) manage our enormous and constantly growing TBR (To-Be-Read) List. The rules are simple and everyone is encouraged to participate. It does not force you to commit to more than what you can manage to read in a week or so, but participants are encouraged to read at least one book within a week. You are free to choose the book you want to read and commit to this challenge. You may post your entry every Saturday, at the frequency of your choice--EVERY WEEK or EVERY TWO WEEKS. However, we will sponsor this event regularly every Saturday.

This is my fourth week of TBR Intervention. It didn't go as well as previous weeks. First, we lost power, and were sitting by candlelight. Since I couldn't read a real book, I had my nookcolor out. Then I got distracted by the awesome book I was reading on my nookcolor. (Review coming soon.)

Go to Refracted Light to see the rules of the TBR Intervention and to find the other participants for this week.

Last week's challenge
My goal was to read The Golden Compass which I have in the Dark Materials Omnibus. I read the first two chapters, and there were good, but they just didn't grab me the way I was hoping they would. I'm going to see if I can finish it this week. I think it is because nothing really happened so far. The main character is stuck in a stuffy old university being bored out of her skull which bored me too. I think once she lives the university (which I know she does, having read the book), the adventure will pick up. So this leads me to this week's challenge.

This week's challenge
Just to finish reading The Golden Compass. If I manage that, then I'm going to read Speak by Laura Halse Anderson. It has won tons of awards and I'm pretty sure I'll breeze right through it, but for some reason it has just been sitting on my shelf waiting to be read.

  1. I am so glad to hear that you will be reading Speak. I think that it is a remarkable read. I always talk about it to my friends around Banned Book Week.

  2. Haven't considered reading The Golden Compass but I did watched the movie; which was okay but did not capture my interest.

But, Speak. Well, heard a lot about this and I hope you enjoy reading it.

  4. Yup. I know exactly what you mean about The Golden Compass. My attempt to read it is pretty similar.

Good luck on both books this week! :)

  5. I hope you can finish The Golden Compass this week. I'm not successful with my TBR too... haha! Oh well... I hope this coming week would be much different. If I need to give up my current read just to catch up with my TBR commitment, I would do so :P Anyway, hope you're having a great week! =) Thank you for participating every week!... =)
